Meet Rev. Eric J. Hall

As a Minister :

Eric J. Hall has always felt called to a life in ministry. At the age of 18 he entered the Capuchin Franciscan Friars’ college seminary program. Having completed his Philosophy degree in three and a half years he left for a two year period to continue his discernment. Returning to the friars in 1990 he entered novitiate and later professed vows in the Capuchin Franciscan Order. While studying for ordination to the Roman Catholic Priesthood he was actively involved in a wide range of ministry. Eric J. Hall served as Executive Director of Emmanuel Dining Room feeding the less fortunate and homeless in Wilmington DE. It was here that he developed his ability to speak in ways that touched the hearts of listeners.

Eric J. Hall was ordained a deacon and later a Roman Catholic Priest on September 7, 1996. He served at Immaculate Conception Church, Bronx, NY where he was a successful minister and sought after preacher. While at Immaculate Conception he started a children’s choir “City Angels”, a youth group “Choices”, was chaplain at St. Catherine’s High School and conducted several Passion Plays that drew large crowds and carried cast and crew of almost 150 persons. Most importantly he loved what he did and loved what he was – a minister of God’s people.

Late in 2000, Eric J. Hall felt that his time at the Capuchin Franciscan Friars was coming to an end. There was an ardent desire deep in his soul to move on. Though unclear as to where he was going and what he would do – the move was done in faith.

Obtaining a job as the chief executive officer of the Long Island Alzheimer’s Foundation his skills and abilities help him excel. He took a small organization with limited resources and grew it to a leader in the industry throughout the region. Revenues excelled, people with Alzheimer’s disease were being helped, programs established and all appeared to be fine. However, Eric J. Hall was no longer using the gift God had given him. He was not actively ministering.

In September of 2002, Eric J. Hall received a call from Barbara Brill, the past accountant of Immaculate Conception Church and a member of a Presbyterian Church in Yonkers, NY who was in need of a minister on a Sunday morning. Convincing Eric that he needed to participate and get back involved he preached that Sunday for the first time in two years. Other opportunities soon presented themselves. Couples came to him to be married, and individuals came for spiritual direction and counseling. Then came Eastchester Presbyterian Church, 11 Woodlot Rd, Eastchester, NY..

The church was small and not well attended, maybe 11 people on a Sunday. They needed a part time minister. Eric J. Hall was selected and has been ministering at what is now Eastchester Community Church ever since. The congregation is the fastest growing in the region with numerous baptisms, new congregants, an incredible music ministry and an all new makeover of the church and community hall. Now with a new television ministry, a radio show and a dynamic web site Eric J. Hall and Eastchester Community Church hope to inspire even more people with their message of love and hope!

  1. Professionally:

Eric J. Hall is the chief executive officer of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, headquartered in New York City.

Mr. Hall spearheaded the development of AFA, a national nonprofit organization, to improve the quality of care for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, and their families, and so that organizations from coast-to-coast could speak as one voice to advocate for optimal care and to enhance local support services. Mr. Hall’s sincere commitment to care for individuals with dementia and their families is underscored by his heartfelt desire to make a difference.

Under Mr. Hall’s vision and leadership, AFA has grown enormously from its founding in 2002 to now include hundreds of member organizations in North America. Among his numerous accomplishments, he has rolled out three major national initiatives—AFA Quilt to Remember, National Memory Screening Day and National Commemorative Candle Lighting; formed a groundbreaking division for dementia care professionals; captured the attention of Congress and other government officials about the importance of early detection; introduced the nation’s first magazine for dementia caregivers; and forged strategic partnerships with other major national organizations.

A sought-after presenter and motivational speaker, Mr. Hall has keynoted regional and national conferences on Alzheimer’s disease and care issues. He has appeared on or has been quoted frequently in local and national media, including The Early Show, Time magazine, the Los Angeles Times, USA Today, O: The Oprah Magazine, and CNN Radio. Currently, he is a member of the board of Project Lifesaver International, Inc., Chesapeake, VA.

Mr. Hall has a strong record of achievement in advising and leading nonprofit organizations to achieve their full financial and operational potential. He previously served as chief executive officer of a local grassroots Alzheimer’s organization. There, he doubled the size of the agency’s budget and tripled the size of its staff within a three-year period, and he initiated many innovative programs that raised the bar on Alzheimer’s care and have since been replicated elsewhere.

Prior to his involvement in the Alzheimer’s community, Mr. Hall was Treasurer of the New Jersey branch of the Capuchin Franciscan Friars, an international religious charity at which he directed the establishment of a multi-million dollar living facility for mature adults in the Bronx, NY.
